# Barbour Jackets for Men

**Barbour** has made waxed cotton in South Shields since 1894 and holds royal warrants for it. The men's jackets here are the classics: the **Bedale** and **Beaufort** wax jackets, quilted styles and the Liddesdale gilet.

A wax jacket is a long-term purchase. It marks, it softens, and it gets re-proofed rather than thrown away - which is why people still wear ones bought in the 1990s. Quilted jackets are the lighter option, and gilets layer under either.
